Travel Gift Guide + What’s In My Bag

  • travel gift guide 2017 rachel puccetti between two coasts barrington gifts travel gift guide rachel puccetti between two coasts whats in my bag travel essentials rachel puccetti
  • Oribe Dry Texturing Spray– this is one of my all-time favorite hair products, plus it smells soo good, haha! When you’re in a different country/state the weather and the water can do funny things to your hair, so I always like to have a dependable hair product on hand. This one is travel size too!
  • Caudalie Beauty Elixir– I fell in love with this product after bringing it home from Paris with me! You can spray it on your face throughout the day for a quick refresh, or even to set your makeup. I can’t travel without this! Traveling, especially flying, can really suck the moisture out of your face, and this spray really helps.
  • Lanolips– my #1 lip product! The lanolin in this lip balm does amazing things for your lips, and keeps them smooth and moisturized. Plus, it tastes good too, ha! Like the Caudalie spray, I HAVE to have a good lip balm with me on flights, and this is my favorite.
  • YSL ‘Mon Paris’ Perfume– I always carry a travel size perfume with me when traveling, and this scent is so yummy!
  • Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream– never travel without a good facial moisturizer in your cosmetic bag. As I mentioned above, traveling/flying can really leave your skin feeling dry, so I always make sure to pack my favorite moisturizers. This Cloud Cream is my current favorite, and is incredibly light and refreshing! It also comes in a travel set here with the face wash which I love too!

All of these items would make great stocking stuffers for someone who travels!

Today’s post is all about the jetsetter! If you have someone on your Christmas list that loves to see the world, I put together a travel gift guide that features some of my must-have travel essentials! I also get asked what’s in my bag, and what beauty products I always travel with, so I am sharing my top 5 items that are in my cosmetic bag while traveling!

Last Christmas I received these Barrington Gifts luggage items, and I am absolutely obsessed!  Whether you’re a frequent flyer, a girl on the go, or enjoy taking weekend trips, these are a MUST! They have come with me to Paris, New York, weekend getaways, and my next international vacation in March! The duffle bag is the perfect carry-on for flights, or for a weekend away, and the tote bag carries all of my necessities/tech items to keep with me under my seat on flights! Passport covers are just SO cute, and this one kept my passport, boarding passes, cards, etc together & secure. The cosmetic bag is a recent addition to my collection, and I’m so in love with it! It’s nice and roomy, and holds everything I need to take with me.

I couldn’t think of a better personalized gift than these Barrington Gifts items. There are so many different items to choose from, and they are totally customizable. All of the patterns and  color combos are so cute, and I love that some of the prints (like mine) look like designer bags, but are much more affordable (and durable in my opinion!) Whether for traveling, work, school or just everyday use, these bags are so useful and stylish! We are getting so close to Christmas, so be sure to go order NOW and make sure to check the Christmas delivery dates or expedited shipping!

I wanted to highlight a few of the items for you…

  • #1 Luggage- Cute luggage is a must-have (hello travel Instagram, lol!) Calpak makes the cutest luggage, and it’s also relatively affordable compared to other brands. This luggage set would make such a great gift.
  • #12 Headphones- I can’t recommend a great pair of headphones enough for traveling. These Bose ones may seem pricey, but if you’re a frequent flyer, these are worth every penny. Not only is the sound great, but they are noise cancelling as well, to help cancel out a noisy plane/airport, the drone of the plane engine, and also if you’re trying to sleep!  These are wireless as well!
  • #10 Travel Adapter- this is a must-have for international travel, and will adapt to the plugs of so many different countries/continents. I couldn’t have gone without this in Paris, and it’s also under $50. This is NOT a converter, those are more tricky. For Apple product plugs, or anything that is already the proper voltage for the country, this will just adapt the different plugs. It also has USB ports for extra phone charging.
  • #14 Mophie Portable Charger- this is another travel item that I can NOT travel without. Long days of traveling around the city/days spent in airports, you are going to need a recharge! This one will hold multiple charges, and is one of the best out there!

I hope that you found this post helpful, and got some great gift ideas, or even gifts for yourself 😉 Be sure to get ordering, there are only so many days left for Christmas delivery! Xo, Rachel

Dress: Alice and Olivia, Shoes: Chloé, Bag: Prada, Sunnies: Quay, Lips: Lipstick- Captive

Hello Friday, I am so ready for you! After a whirlwind week getting back home from New York, I can’t wait for a little downtime this weekend, although I’m wishing I was still in NYC!

As you may know, I went to NYFW this past weekend for the first time, and it was also my first trip to NYC! Let me just say, I totally fell head over heels in love with that beautiful seriously having withdrawals! I had always thought I would love to live in the city for a year or two in my twenties, and after this weekend, I am already daydreaming looking at apartments, ha!

NYFW 2017 was definitely one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I will never, ever forget! There were so many moments where I just had to stop and think to myself “is this really happening!?” Being front row at the Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo collection show (so my very first NYFW runway show!) and seeing Olivia Palermo was definitely top of the list! It was also amazing to finally meet in person so many other bloggers and friends from Instagram at the rewardStyle events I attended!

I adore all things Alice and Olivia, and this dress was one of my favorite looks I wore this weekend! I love the ruffled tiers, colorful floral pattern and touches of velvet. It’s such a pretty dress to take in to fall, and pair with boots. I switched into booties to walk around the city, and I’m also loving the idea of this dress paired with OTK boots! This is definitely a dress worth investing in!

Thank you all so, so much for stopping by and sharing part of your Friday with me! If you have any questions about my NYFW 2017 experience, please don’t hesitate to ask!! Xo, Rachel

When it comes to dresses, I can’t say no to a pretty bell sleeve! I just love how they can turn an otherwise simple dress into a stunning statement piece. I am so excited about today’s post, as I’m sharing another look from my travels in Paris earlier this summer, featuring the perfect bell sleeve dress!

Milly will always be one of my favorite designers, so when I came across this dress I not only knew that I had to have it in my wardrobe, but that it was just the type of dress I’d been looking for for Paris! This look couldn’t have been easier, but was still trés chic, which is exactly what you need for a full day exploring Paris! Anytime that I can slip into a dress and instantly feel fabulous is a win in my book! Just pair with your favorite bag and shoes, and it’s as easy as that!

This bell sleeve dress truly is the perfect dress to have in your wardrobe. It’s that one that you’ll pull out time after time, perfect for any occasion or event that might come your way! Whether worn during the day with a cute sandal, or dressed to impress for a glamorous evening, this dress will get you there! Plus, it comes in just about every color, some colors are even on sale right now! I also found a nearly identical version (listed above) for under $140! Don’t hesitate to add such an essential dress to your wardrobe, ladies!

Palace of Versailles

Day 2 in Paris was truly a magical one. Versailles is one of those places that you always dream of visiting, and while I could scroll through photos of this beautiful place all day long, it was absolutely breathtaking seeing the Palace in person for the first time! Walking through the gardens and pathways, and visiting the Petite Trianon was so surreal. I love art history, and it really is incredible the amount of history that lies there, and that Marie Antoinette herself walked those gardens! This Dolce and Gabbana dress is without a doubt my most favorite dress in my wardrobe, and I had been saving it for the perfect occasion. Every girl deserves to twirl through Versailles in a pretty dress!

In my previous post from The Tuileries (see here), I shared a few tips for visiting, and I wanted to do the same for Versailles! I am going to be completely honest, because not everything about traveling is glamorous! We went on a day that was HOT and very busy. While our visit really was amazing, part of me was wishing that it was a cloudy day so that I could slow down and relax in the gardens without feeling like I was melting, haha! Here are a few tips to keep in mind when visiting Versailles…

1.  I would recommend visiting on a day that is cloudier (this also makes photos easier). The gardens are definitely gorgeous on a sunny day, but if so, try to choose the coolest day if possible! There is just so much ground to cover, no AC inside, and like I said, it’s a little more enjoyable when you don’t feel like you’re melting away, especially amidst a large crowd!

2. We took the RER C and it couldn’t have been easier! We got on the stop by the Eiffel Tower, and it only took about 25 minutes to get to Versailles.

3. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Just like in the Tuileries, everywhere you walk is gravel/rocky, so your shoes will get a little dusty and there is a lot of walking! Luckily we were able to take a little tram out to the Petite Trianon and back! You can also rent a golf cart or bikes!

4. We ended up being there around midday, and the line to get inside the Palace was crazy long when we first got there, even with our museum passes, so we headed out into the gardens first. After an hour or two when we headed back to the Palace, there was no line at all! I would try to be there first thing in the morning when it opens, or later in the afternoon a few hours before closing.

5. Grab some lunch and head to a bench by the Grand Canal where the little row boats are! Don’t forget some macarons and ice cream!

I hope you find those tips helpful if you’re visiting, or planning a visit. You will LOVE it, I promise! Please let me know if you have any questions! Next up is Palais-Royal & The Louvre…stay tuned!

The Tuileries Gardens

travel style rachel puccetti between two coasts navy off the shoulder dress rachel puccetti between two coasts paris tuileries gardens rachel puccetti between two coasts tuileries gardens paris travel guide rachel puccetti paris travel guide tuileries gardens rachel puccetti off the shoulder dress rachel puccetti between two coasts tuileries gardens travel tips rachel puccetti Dress: Chelsea28, Bag: Clare V., Shoes: Marc Fisher, Scarf: BP., Sunnies: Quay, Lips: Lipstick- MAC Red, Liner- Cherry

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be back with you all to share my very first post from Paris! The past two weeks were everything that Paris dreams are made of. I’ve been looking forward to sharing a look inside our trip, featuring not only what I wore, but tips to visiting all of my favorite sights, and a full Paris travel guide. Hopefully these posts will give you a glimpse of the magic this city holds!

Day 1 we began our adventures in the Tuileries Gardens, and they were every bit as beautiful as I had imagined! It was sunny and 75, and I wore my new favorite off the shoulder dress. I have a love for all things navy, especially in the summer, and I love the detailing on the hem of this dress! Plus, it’s under $150! Paired with a neck scarf for a parisian touch (of course!) and my favorite sneakers for a day full of walking. It turned out to be the perfect comfy, cute outfit.

No matter how much planning goes into a trip, there will always be little things you find out along the way, so I wanted to share a few tips/things to know when visiting the Tuileries Gardens!

  1. We lucked out with beautiful weather during our two weeks, and most days were perfectly sunny. If you’re planning to take photos, try visiting in the morning, later in the evening or when it’s cloudy. Shooting in full sun can be a little tricky! We ended up coming back later in the day for photos when clouds came out.
  2. Be sure to stop at the Musée de l’Orangerie located in the gardens. This is where you’ll find the stunning “Waterlillies” paintings by Monet, my absolute favorite!
  3. Make sure to wear comfy shoes, or shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. The pathways are all gravel/dirt, and you’ll definitely be doing a lot of walking in the gardens! My sneakers were perfect, and were easy to clean off end of day. If you’re taking photos in nice shoes, just bring them along and change into them!
  4. Another tip if taking photos- if you don’t want any other pedestrians in your photos, be sure to get there first thing in the morning, especially if you want the famous tree-lined stretch shot! P.S.- that shot (where I am in the pics) is located up a set of stairs, on the side closest to the Seine. The city is pretty quiet early in the morning, and the gardens will fill up in the afternoons. Sometimes you will get lucky and the gardens won’t be terribly busy, and you can still take photos if you don’t mind just a couple people in the background, which is what we did! Take note: there are a lot of runners throughout the gardens, haha!
  5. There are tons of cute little green chairs throughout the gardens, and by the fountains, so be sure to grab a treat, sit down and enjoy the view! We picked up a few goodies to-go at the Angelina directly next to the gardens (on Rue de Rivoli). There is also an Amorino cart, which was my favorite gelato (they make it to look like a flower on your cone!) Yum!

We ended up strolling through the Tuileries Gardens on multiple occasions, we just couldn’t stay away! If you’re planning a trip to Paris, make sure it’s at the top of your list, and I hope you find these tips helpful! Stay tuned for more posts to come, and please let me know if you have ANY questions about Paris/my trip!

Perfect Little White Dress Under $100

Happy first day of spring, everyone! I hope your weekend was great! I just got back from a little spring break trip to Dallas, and the weather was amazing, so it was perfect timing to come home to warm spring weather in KC. We spent our weekend strolling through some of our favorite shops, relaxing poolside, and patio hopping from one brunch to the next! (Stay tuned for a quick Dallas travel guide on a few of my fav places!)

On Saturday we spent the day at Highland Park Village (my heaven on earth, ha!) and I wore this little white dress that I am obsessed with! Ruffles + bow detail + off the shoulder= the perfect little white dress! And it’s under $100! I also love that it can be worn two ways–off the shoulder, or normal (although it becomes a little too short if you’re taller like me) It’s the perfect dress to add a pop of color too, or a fun statement earring, and I got so many compliments on it throughout the day! We went out for mexican that night, so I switched out my wedges for these colorful sandals! For size reference, I would order a size up. I found it runs a little small, and with this style dress, it can’t hurt to have a little extra room/flowiness. I am wearing a medium. Also, like many white dresses, it’s pretty sheer, but it was perfect with a nude half slip underneath! I’ve already got a list of different ways I want to style this dress, so I know it will be on repeat!

Thank you all so much for stopping by!

Classic Trench Coat//Paris Calling Part 1

Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. For those of you that don’t know, I am currently planning my first trip to Paris for two weeks at the end of May…eek! With officially less than 100 days to go, Paris is calling!

Not only is it my first time visiting The City of Lights, but it’s also my first time out of the country, so it’s going to be truly magical. As you could guess, it also calls for planning, planning, planning! I wanted to start a series of posts featuring some of my steps leading up to my trip, and what better topic to kick-off with than fashion?

Most our our stay will be during early June, which should call for beautiful spring weather, but I’m prepared for the occasional rain shower and cooler temps. With that being said, I always want to have a coat on hand that will work with whatever I might be wearing that day, and what better option than the classic trench coat? Not only is it perfectly parisian, but it will be easy to travel with, and creates such an effortlessly chic look. One of the key points I love most about traveling with a trench coat is that I can plan on bringing a select handful of dresses, tops, and bottoms, and mix and match different pieces with the coat as needed. This simplifies both packing and outfit planning, and allows me to create multiple looks without overpacking (which I am notorious for, ha!)

I just purchased this trench coat in both this color, and the blush pink (swoon!) and I’m absolutely in love! I’m obsessed with how feminine and pretty they look, and especially love how it appears to have a pleated skirt when the belt is tied in a bow in back! I plan on taking both coats, and pairing them with white, black, navy and red pieces. This pretty lace peplum that I love so much turned out to be the perfect pairing. For size reference, I am wearing an XS and it fits perfectly. I originally ordered S, but they do run a bit large. Also, they are currently 40% off, so there’s no better time to add one to your spring wardrobe!

I hope that you all will enjoy this series, and find it helpful if you’re also planning spring travels. If you have any questions, or specifics you’d like to know about my planning process, please don’t hesitate to ask! For any of you that have been to Paris, I would adore suggestions/tips! Xo, Rachel

Hello October! Fall…I am so in love. Autumn is without a doubt my favorite season of the year. Pumpkins, cider donuts, crisp air and crunchy leaves, cozy sweaters, hocus pocus, pumpkin spice and all things nice…what’s not to love?

One of my family’s favorite fall traditions is going to the Louisburg Cider Mill. It is one of the best cider mills with the most delicious apple cider that you can watch being squeezed fresh everyday (see photo above!), and the most heavenly apple cider donuts. Seriously, they’re SO good!! I always look forward to putting on a cozy outfit and heading out for a day at the pumpkin patch with warm cider and donuts, and a corn maze if you dare! Next up on my agenda for October is ghost tours! Has anyone ever gone on one!?

What are some of your favorite fall traditions?
