Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying your weekend so far, and maybe even enjoying some snow where you are (I’m so jealous!!) This weekend I’ll be staying cozy at home watching movies with my big Christmas tin of popcorn, baking sugar cookies, and helping my mom finish her gift wrapping…I already finished mine (see my highly requested gift wrapping post here!)

Today I wanted to share my Christmas room decor with you all. There’s nothing I love more than decorating for Christmas, and I wish the season would never end! I want my room to stay this cozy and festive forever! Ruby sure loves it too 😉 Notice her sound asleep on her favorite spot on my bed. Along with a cozy room comes snuggling up with Christmas movies, so I also wanted to include my 10 favorite Christmas movies on Netflix! Perfect timing just in case you’re wanting to have a movie marathon this weekend, ha! This is where you’ll find me this weekend with that tin of popcorn. It’s Topsy’s, a KC company that’s been around for a long time, and every year we get a big Christmas tin! It’s seriously the best popcorn you’ll ever have, even Ruby is obsessed and tries to sneak a piece any time she can!

Travel Gift Guide + What’s In My Bag

  • travel gift guide 2017 rachel puccetti between two coasts barrington gifts travel gift guide rachel puccetti between two coasts whats in my bag travel essentials rachel puccetti
  • Oribe Dry Texturing Spray– this is one of my all-time favorite hair products, plus it smells soo good, haha! When you’re in a different country/state the weather and the water can do funny things to your hair, so I always like to have a dependable hair product on hand. This one is travel size too!
  • Caudalie Beauty Elixir– I fell in love with this product after bringing it home from Paris with me! You can spray it on your face throughout the day for a quick refresh, or even to set your makeup. I can’t travel without this! Traveling, especially flying, can really suck the moisture out of your face, and this spray really helps.
  • Lanolips– my #1 lip product! The lanolin in this lip balm does amazing things for your lips, and keeps them smooth and moisturized. Plus, it tastes good too, ha! Like the Caudalie spray, I HAVE to have a good lip balm with me on flights, and this is my favorite.
  • YSL ‘Mon Paris’ Perfume– I always carry a travel size perfume with me when traveling, and this scent is so yummy!
  • Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream– never travel without a good facial moisturizer in your cosmetic bag. As I mentioned above, traveling/flying can really leave your skin feeling dry, so I always make sure to pack my favorite moisturizers. This Cloud Cream is my current favorite, and is incredibly light and refreshing! It also comes in a travel set here with the face wash which I love too!

All of these items would make great stocking stuffers for someone who travels!

Today’s post is all about the jetsetter! If you have someone on your Christmas list that loves to see the world, I put together a travel gift guide that features some of my must-have travel essentials! I also get asked what’s in my bag, and what beauty products I always travel with, so I am sharing my top 5 items that are in my cosmetic bag while traveling!

Last Christmas I received these Barrington Gifts luggage items, and I am absolutely obsessed!  Whether you’re a frequent flyer, a girl on the go, or enjoy taking weekend trips, these are a MUST! They have come with me to Paris, New York, weekend getaways, and my next international vacation in March! The duffle bag is the perfect carry-on for flights, or for a weekend away, and the tote bag carries all of my necessities/tech items to keep with me under my seat on flights! Passport covers are just SO cute, and this one kept my passport, boarding passes, cards, etc together & secure. The cosmetic bag is a recent addition to my collection, and I’m so in love with it! It’s nice and roomy, and holds everything I need to take with me.

I couldn’t think of a better personalized gift than these Barrington Gifts items. There are so many different items to choose from, and they are totally customizable. All of the patterns and  color combos are so cute, and I love that some of the prints (like mine) look like designer bags, but are much more affordable (and durable in my opinion!) Whether for traveling, work, school or just everyday use, these bags are so useful and stylish! We are getting so close to Christmas, so be sure to go order NOW and make sure to check the Christmas delivery dates or expedited shipping!

I wanted to highlight a few of the items for you…

  • #1 Luggage- Cute luggage is a must-have (hello travel Instagram, lol!) Calpak makes the cutest luggage, and it’s also relatively affordable compared to other brands. This luggage set would make such a great gift.
  • #12 Headphones- I can’t recommend a great pair of headphones enough for traveling. These Bose ones may seem pricey, but if you’re a frequent flyer, these are worth every penny. Not only is the sound great, but they are noise cancelling as well, to help cancel out a noisy plane/airport, the drone of the plane engine, and also if you’re trying to sleep!  These are wireless as well!
  • #10 Travel Adapter- this is a must-have for international travel, and will adapt to the plugs of so many different countries/continents. I couldn’t have gone without this in Paris, and it’s also under $50. This is NOT a converter, those are more tricky. For Apple product plugs, or anything that is already the proper voltage for the country, this will just adapt the different plugs. It also has USB ports for extra phone charging.
  • #14 Mophie Portable Charger- this is another travel item that I can NOT travel without. Long days of traveling around the city/days spent in airports, you are going to need a recharge! This one will hold multiple charges, and is one of the best out there!

I hope that you found this post helpful, and got some great gift ideas, or even gifts for yourself 😉 Be sure to get ordering, there are only so many days left for Christmas delivery! Xo, Rachel

Christmas Gift Wrapping 2017

Happy Saturday everyone! Every Christmas season I get SO excited to not only shop for presents, but to wrap them! I seriously love gift wrapping so much! My mom taught me well! My favorite thing is to turn on a Christmas movie, make some hot cocoa and snacks, and gift wrap in my pajamas! This week it was two late nights of watching The Holiday, one of my all-time favorites. This week I shared mine and my mom’s gift wrapping on Instagram Stories, and I got SO many questions and requests for a gift wrapping post, including tips & tricks!

To start off, each year I always have a theme picked out, sometimes I already know what I want my theme to be for the next year as soon as Christmas is over, lol! There’s just so many cute ideas. Themes make it easy to picture what you want everything to look like, and make staying focused and shopping for gift wrap easier too! Not to mention, they look so much prettier under the tree when all of the presents create a beautiful, festive theme! Here are my tips for choosing a theme:

1. Search Pinterest

2. Find an anchor point and go from there. Whether it’s a certain paper or gift bags you found and loved, or ornaments to tie on to the packages. Each year Target puts out their bins of ornaments that are already separated by theme for you, and they’re always so cute! Last year that’s how I chose my winter camping theme (see post here) and that’s also how I chose my Nutcracker/Sugar Plum theme this year! I tie the ornaments on with the ribbon to dress up the presents (you can also keep them for your tree once the presents are unwrapped!) Once I have my ornaments picked out, I choose the matching paper, ribbon, gift tags etc. from there to create my vision!

Here are a few other fun tips I have for making your presents look extra pretty!

  • Layer your ribbon! Find a couple different types of ribbons that match your paper and theme, and layer them differently on each present, or tie it different ways! You can see above how on the silver presents I had the burgundy ribbon tied in a 4-square, and then I added the red/white or gold/white twine! The twine is one of my favorite ribbons to use each year, and you can tie it however you want! On the present with the lollipop, you can see I just wrapped the twine around a couple times and criss-crossed it. It’s cute when it doesn’t look perfect! I love that twine almost looks like peppermints, and a little more old-fashioned Christmas. I use it every year no matter my theme to accent other ribbon. Also, you can find twine pretty much anywhere: in the craft section at any store, sometimes in the dollar section at Target, in the baking section, or in the gift wrapping (The Sugar Paper collection at Target always has some in their Christmas wrap!)
  • Use multiple different wrapping papers. I usually have 3 or 4 different ones that go along with my theme. I just think that it looks more fun that way at the end when they’re all together! You could also do one paper per person too!
  • As I said above, I love embellishing my presents. I love to use ornaments attached to the bows, candy, or sprigs of greenery. If you want to add a little greenery to your presents, I recommend using the tree picks or sprigs of greenery that you can find at places like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby! They always have so many cute tree picks that are perfect for attaching to presents with the ribbon! My mom is using the cutest little plaid Scotty dogs for her theme that are tree picks from Michael’s. PS- if you’re using candy, be very careful if you have pets! I would never attach chocolate or anything that would be bad for my dogs! My peppermint lollipops are still covered in plastic wrap, and we keep a close eye on my two dogs 😉
  • If you want your ribbon to look a certain way or stay in place, use scotch tape, double sided tape, or hot glue. None of the ribbon I chose had wire in it, so on some of them I used a dab of hot glue to keep it in the shape I wanted it to be, to give a little dimension!
  • Find fun gift tags! There are a million to choose from, and they all look so cute on the presents!
  • Check out the DOLLAR SECTION at Target. It’s SO good this year it’s crazy! That’s where I got a lot of my wrapping pieces, and so did my mom and sisters! We’re talking gift bags (big and little!), ribbon & twine, tissue paper, wrapping paper, gift tags, and all that good stuff for $1-$3!! They also did so many different themes and patterns!
  • I mentioned above that I love wrapping on the floor while watching a movie. I just spread everything out on my bedroom floor and have at it! Easy clean up too with a vacuum! You could also do your kitchen table/countertop.
  • Buy all your gift wrap early! It will all start to get picked over and the good stuff will be gone, or the bins will be a mess to dig through, haha! Even if you plan on wrapping closer to Christmas, just go out and stock up on your wrapping essentials!

Those are some of my best tips for gift wrapping, and hopefully you find some of those helpful! Just have fun with it!! Stay tuned for a little gift wrapping tutorial on my Instagram Stories (rachelpuccetti), I’ll show you how I actually wrap them/tips!

Book Review Part Two

book review part two rachel puccetti between two coasts

Happy Friday everyone! Today I am sharing my book review part two! This time of year is the perfect time to cozy up with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa! Here are some of my latest reads…

1. The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

This was without a doubt one of my all time favorite thrillers! I tore through this book, and it seriously had me a bit on edge reading it late at night! The main character, Cass, drives home late one night down a winding road in the woods, in the middle of a downpour. She sees a car on the side of the road, and debates whether to stop and help them or not. Only to later find out that the woman in the car was murdered, and feels terribly guilty for not stopping. She can’t admit to anyone what she saw that night, especially since she promised her husband she wouldn’t take that dangerous road. Ever since then, she keeps receiving silent calls, and has a feeling that someone has been in her house and is watching her. Cass can’t seem to remember simple things like where she left her car, if she took her pills, or what her alarm code is. Is she really losing it, or are things not as they seem? In the end, you won’t see the twist coming at all! SO good!

2. A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena

Tom and Karen Krupp are happily married and living in the suburbs in New York. One day, Tom comes home to find Karen has simply disappeared. The house is unlocked and her car is gone, but all of her belongings including her ID and phone are still there. The police soon inform him that Karen has been in a card accident in the worst part of town. She wakes up in the hospital with no memory of that night, but quickly needs to recover her memory when a murder is reported just down the street from where her accident happened. The police begin to suspect that it was Karen, and she is desperately trying to prove she’s innocent, especially since she feels that someone has been in her house, moving her things around. I absolutely loved this book, and the twist at the end was completely unexpected!

3. Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

Jack and Grace seem like the perfect couple. Jack is wealthy and very handsome, and Grace is elegant and a woman of many talents. The two never spend a minute apart from eachother, but is it really true love? Grace’s friends wonder why she doesn’t have a cell phone, or why she can’t leave the house without Jack, or why their house is so heavily secured? You’ll soon found out that things aren’t always as perfect as they seem, and you never know what goes on behind closed doors. This book was another page turner, and really kept me on edge!

4. Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes

This is the book that I am currently reading and nearly finished with, but am loving! Catherine thinks she is the luckiest girl when she meets blue-eyed, gorgeous Lee, but his mysterious side might not be so attractive after all. Their relationship quickly turns from passion to a nightmare, as Lee becomes twisted and violent, and horribly jealous. Catherine tries to end things and turn to her friends for help, but they don’t believe her. She feels alone and desperate to escape, just barely with her life. Four years later and Lee is in prison, and Catherine has moved on with her life. Her past stills haunts her though, and she suffers from OCD in an effort to feel safe from day to day. Her new neighbor, Stuart, helps comfort her and brings hope that she can turn things around and finally have a normal life. That is, until the day that the phone rings…

I would love to hear if you have read any of these, and keep me posted if you decide to read them! I highly recommend all of them! I absolutely love mysteries and psychological thrillers, and would love any good recs you might have! You can never have too many good books for the winter time!
