Curling up with a good book has always been one of my favorite things to do at night, or in my free down time, especially during the winter. Once I have finished working for the night, I love to make a cup of hot cocoa and get cozy in bed in my fav PJ’s (PJ Salvage!) with my pups and my current read. It’s the perfect way to relax at the end of the day, and Ruby & Lola really love it, too! (or maybe they just love my pile of cozy blankets ;))

I’ve always been a mystery kind of girl, and lately I feel like there have been SO many good ones out there, so I thought it would be fun to share a few that I am currently reading! Plus, the snow is coming down for many of you, and winter break is right around the corner, so it’s the perfect time to grab a new book!

1. The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena

This book is on many recommendation lists, and it did not disappoint! It begins with a couple who return home from a dinner party late one night, and find their baby girl missing. You are led through the investigation, and I was constantly trying to guess who did it…which turned into many late nights for me because I couldn’t stop turning the page! I would definitely recommend this if you love solving mysteries!

2. The Protector by Jodi Ellen Malpas

When I came across this book, I hadn’t heard anything about it yet, but decided to give it a try. Sure enough, I ended up really loving it! Camille Logan, a beautiful, wealthy girl finds herself under the protection of her new body guard and former sniper, Jake Sharp. There’s a threat on her life thanks to her ruthless business man of a father. Both Camille and Jake have dark pasts, but he finds her to be much more than the bad press makes her out to be. She might be just what he needs to face his fears. They come to need each other, but a certain threat stands in their way. It was the perfect balance between suspense and romance! P.S.- this book is pretty racy, and graphic at times which I wasn’t expecting, but just wanted to give you a fair warning!

3. In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

The first book I read by Ware was The Woman in Cabin 10 which I absolutely loved, so I was excited to read this one. I love how suspenseful her books are, and she does the best job at keeping you on your toes! Nora is invited to a bachelorette party for a friend from her past, and she reluctantly agrees to attend. The setting takes place in a house in the middle of the woods (so creepy!), and things take a very dark, and twisted turn. You might not want to read this one late at night, ladies 😉

Let’s chat! I would love to hear if you have read any of these and what you thought. Also, I would especially love any similar book recommendations!

Enjoy! Xo, Rachel
